The Louis D. Brown Peace Institute and the Massachusetts Survivors of Homicide Victims Network, in partnership with VISIONS, Inc.,  present:

The Survivors Leadership Academy

A series of workshops for family members of murder victims to transform their pain and anger into power and action. During the course survivors will:

  • Get training from victim services advocates and law enforcement officials
  • Receive support to take the next steps on your healing journey
  • Have the opportunity to join the Survivors of Homicide Victims Network to do policy and advocacy work with fellow survivors

Participants will receive a small stipend

Thursday, September 21, 2017: Court Proceedings; Post-Conviction

All classes are from 4:00pm-8:00pm

Graduation breakfast: Saturday, September 23, 10-12 (location announced at orientation)

The Survivors Leadership Academy is (partially) supported by the Massachusetts Office for Victim Assistance through a Victims of Crime Act of 1984 (VOCA) grant from the Office for Victims of Crime, Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice and in partnership with presenters from VISIONS, Inc., Darrin Howell, The Office of the Attorney General Victims of Violent Crime Compensation Division, Massachusetts Office for Victim Assistance, Boston Police Department Homicide Unit, Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, Massachusetts Parole Victim Services, Massachusetts Department of Corrections Victims Services.
